The article gives a birds-eye-view of the welding of these ships constructed from NVA and NV steel and with Aluminium grades AA 5083 and AA6082 used for the top side. SAW is used at several welding stations with single, twin-arc, tandem and three wire heads. FCAW is the prevailing process accounting for 67% of the deposited weld metal.
